Stinger Season

It's that time of year again. Stinger season.

When in tropical waters always swim in the stinger nets provided preferably wearing a stinger suit.

At Calypso Dive we provide stinger suits to all of our clients on reef trips. We rarely spot jellyfish far out on the reef anyway because the stingers come from river mouths (according to current government research) but it's always better to be safe than sorry.

Calypso II - Reef Exploration 25th March 2008

Scuba diving will get you up close and personal with the sea life and the Giant Turtles do not seem to mind the company of guests aboard Calypso II.

They are used to our gentle presence and are probably checking us out too!!

Great Barrier Reef Diving & Snorkelling

Great Barrier Reef diving and snorkelling will be the highlight of your trip to Australia. The Great Barrier Reef is one of the wonders of the world and is approximately 2,300 kilometres long.

Here at Calypso Adventures we are fortunate to be able to call Eddy Reef our special home-from-home. Being the only charter operator licensed to moor at Eddy Reef means that you will never be in the water with more than about 50 people on a busy day. Scuba diving and snorkelling here is really something - Eddy Reef offers 80% live coral compared to 40% on the rest of the Great Barrier Reef. It is also home to pretty much everything you could wish to see on your diving or snorkelling adventure: sharks, turtles, huge shoals of fish, sea cucumbers, soft coral, hard coral, they're all here. We're also often treated to pods of dolphins year round and whales in season.

If you're new to diving or just want to see if you like it why not try an introductory dive with one of our experienced dive masters. Alternatively, if you're not a great swimmer we have floatation devices so that you don't have to miss out.
